OCR Scanner System
An Optical Character Recognition (OCR) scanner system is essential to the first step of  producing accessible material. OCR systems convert printed text e.g. text books, question papers, etc. in to computer text. Eyepal – Solo Quick Document Scanner
This document scanner / reader reads pages of text quickly and easily, and can also store text on to a USB drive. It can read two pages of A5 text one after the other, as it is positioned, and is recommended for visually impaired person and students. Is portable and can be carried to classes.

Braille & tactile Production

Braille embosser
The professional production of quality braille is produced using a braille embosser, braille
translation software and a proof reader. There are volume embossers, ideal for 1 to 15 primary school visually impaired person, as well as higher volume printers which are recommended for school with 15+ braille users.Braille is an important medium to teach visually impaired students elementary skills such as mathematics, spelling and reading, reading aloud.

Braille translation software
The Braille Embosser operates by means of Braille Translation Software, which allows the
translation from text to braille. Training in the use of this software will take 1 day, and can be operated by a visually impaired person. Current software caters for the following languages: Setswana, English, Zulu, Xhosa, South and North Sotho, Venda, South Ndebele, Swati and Tsonga.

Perkins brailler
Gives a braille medium visually impaired person the same freedom to write braille, as a sighted person has with a pen, although the braille user can, with the Perkins, write faster.

Slate and stylus
A reasonably low cost means of writing braille which is recommended for beginners.

E-Z Form or Quantum Technology PIAF
For embossing diagrams and pictures. This is essential equipment in the studying of mathematical diagrams and maps.

Brailler Pro
This is a lightweight, compact, portable unit with a braille keyboard suitable for writing of both 6 and 8-dot braille. It has high contrasting buttons to assist partially sighted users. Liquid level indicator
This audio unit attaches to the edge of a cup or glass, and emits a high sounding beep when liquid reaches a certain level. When more liquid added e.g. milk, a higher sounding beep indicated that the cup has reach its full capacity
